Jean B. Sweeney, 79, of Middletown, died Sunday, August 9, 2009, at Hospice of Butler and Warren County. She was born in Middletown on August 8, 1930 to parents Roy and Marguerite (Richey) Truesdell.
Jean graduated Middletown High School with the Class of 1948 and graduated from Middletown Hospital School of Nursing in 1951. She worked as a nurse for Middletown Regional Hospital for many years then as a private duty nurse and was school nurse for Bishop Fenwick High School for 15 years. Jean was very active in the Middletown Community, including being a Red Cross Instructor and volunteer. She served on the draft board during Vietnam.
Mrs. Sweeney is survived by her husband, William J. "Bill" Sweeney; sons, William Joseph (Deb) Sweeney II and Thomas B. (Karen) Sweeney; daughter, Margaret A. (Martin) Fedders; brother, Roy "Butch" (Diane) Truesdell; sisters, Audrey Adkins and Linda (Bob) Leslie; granddaughters, Stephanie P. (Adam) Holloway and Kelly J. Sweeney; and great granddaughter, Claire E. Holloway.
She was preceded in death by her parents
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, August 14, 2009 at 10:00 am at Holy Family Parish - Holy Trinity Church, 201 Clark Street, Middletown with Father John Civille as celebrant. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at WILSON-SCHRAMM-SPAULDING FUNERAL HOME, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown. Entombment will be at Woodside Mausoleum.
