Jerome "Jerry" Sewell, 67, of Turtlecreek Township, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2017, at Atrium Medical Center. He was born in Paintsville, Kentucky on April 17, 1949 to parents Cecil and Martha (Mann) Sewell.
Jerry was a graduate of Monroe High School, where he was known as one of the best all-around athletes to ever come out of. He played basketball, was in many tennis tournaments, set records in track and was quarterback and MVP for the 1967 and 1968 Monroe High School football teams. He was a member of the Mid-Miami League All Star Basketball teams 1966, 1967 and 1968. He played college basketball and football at Bethel College. Jerry was the owner/operator of Sewell Trucking for 30 years. He was a member of Forest Hills Country Club and was a Kentucky Colonel.
Mr. Sewell is survived by his wife, Deborah Collins-Sewell; sons, Jerry Sewell Jr. & Adam Sewell; stepdaughter, Amy (Earl) Ballard; brothers, Jon (Becky) Sewell & David (Lisa) Sewell; sisters, Mary (Jerry) Crawford, Brenda (Bob) VanInwegen, Madeline (Mike) Scott, Cindy Sewell Martin & Ruth (Brian) Caudill; step grandchildren, Trevor Collins, Dylan Collins, Ashton Collins & Shelby Swain; and step great grandchild, Bentley Swain.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Carl L. Sewell; sister, Joy Lewis and stepson, Jared Collins.
Funeral Service will be held Thursday, April 13, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown. Visitation will be prior to the service from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
