Jerry Burnett, 72, of Middletown, went home to be with the Lord surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, April 30, 2006, at his residence. He was born in Middletown on June 13, 1933 to William and Mary (Stork) Burnett.
Mr. Burnett worked as a melting foreman for Armco Steel Corp. for 32 years, retiring in 1988. He served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Holy Family Parish, the Moose Lodge, a life member of the V.F.W. and was an avid fisherman.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Audrey (Oaks) Burnett; his three children, Jennifer (John) Esselman, Michael (Diane) Burnett, both of Middletown, and David (Kathy) Burnett of Franklin; five grandchildren, Andy Ward, Jarred Esselman, Steven (Leigh Ann) Burnett, Ashley Esselman, and Lindsay Burnett; mother-in-law, Marie Oaks; sister-in-law, Nancy Burnett; brother-in-law, Jack (Vicki) Oaks; special cousins, Robin Alder and Virginia Johnson; many nieces and nephews; his special christian buddy, Charlie Rowland; and his friends from The Lakeside Breakfast Gang.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a twin brother, Tom Burnett.
Prayer Service will be held Thursday, May 4, 2006 at 11:00 AM at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. (at Bonita Dr.) with Monsignor Paul Metzger officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Woodside Mausoleum.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Skinner, the staff of Middletown Regional Hospital and Hospice of Dayton.
Memorial donations may be sent to the charity of donor´s choice.
