Jimmy M. Gainey, 72, of Middletown, died Tuesday, October 26, 2010, at Atrium Medical Center. He was born in Chester, South Carolina on January 18, 1938 to parents Fred and Rebecca (James) Gainey.
Jimmy worked as a shipping coordinator for Armco Steel Corp for 37 1/2 years, retiring in 2000. He was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church, Lincoln Lodge #693 F. & A.M., Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton and was a Kentucky Colonel.
Mr. Gainey is survived by his wife, LaVonda D. (Miller) Gainey; two sons, Stephen (Dawn) Gainey and Gregory (Tracy) Gainey; sister, Ava Gheen; brothers-in-law, Gerald Conely, Dallas Earnst, and Joe Holbrook, eleven grandchildren, Stephanie (Jeremiah) Paris, Tyler (Ashley) Gainey, Courtney Gainey, Devon Gainey, Megan Gainey, Lauren Gainey, Billy Gainey, Cameron Gainey, Kaitlyn Gainey, Jacob Gainey and Maci Gainey; three great grandchild, Emma Gainey, Kaidance Manns and Riley James Lindsey-Schumacher; and special friends, Joyce Hobson and George & Ruth Wright.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother and sisters, Louella Waters, Nancy Conley, Harold Gainey and Gladys Earnst.
Funeral Service will be held Saturday, October 30, 2010 at 10:00 am at Edgewood Baptist, 1010 West State St., Trenton with Reverend Keith Risner officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown, OH with Scottish Rite Ring service and Masonic service at 7:30 pm. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
