Joan Fletcher left this world to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 18, 2014. Jo spent her high school years in Gratis, Ohio where she was a cheerleader, softball player and part of every play and activity they had. Her main job was taking care of her widowed mother. Jo was the youngest of 10 children. She met and married Gene Fletcher in 1949. Their wonderful marriage lasted 65 years. During that time they had a son, David (Annie) Fletcher of Atlanta, Georgia, and a daughter, Karen (William) Van Cleave of Monroe, Ohio. She was known as "Nana" to the grandchildren, Josh (Mandy) Van Cleave, of Monroe, Ohio, Evan (Rachael) Fletcher of Atlanta, GA and Alexa Fletcher of Atlanta, Georgia; great-grandchildren Carissa (Ryan) DeKalands of Plano, TX, and Jake Van Cleave of Monroe, Ohio; and great-great grandson, David Joshua DeKalands of Plano, Texas. Jo loved the Lord all her life and was very active in the Breiel Blvd. First Church of God in Middletown. She sewed lap robes for the nursing homes and worked to feed the homeless. She was employed by Aeronca, Sorg Paper Company and was a substitute at Middletown High School. She was active in Christian Women's Club and was the world's best babysitter. She also hosted many Bible studies in her home. Her family dearly loved her and knows she is in Heaven with her mother and beloved sister, Jean. A more gentle soul there will never be.
