John A. Singhoffer, 86, of Franklin, formerly of Trenton, died Thursday, December 17, 2009, at Atrium Medical Center. He was born in Middletown on September 18, 1923 to parents Arpad and Otillia (Waczula) Singhoffer.
John worked as a maintenance millwright for Armco Steel for 39 years, retiring in 1985. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II and was a member of the American Legion Post 218 and VFW #3809. One of his biggest enjoyments in life was the Optimist Club Soap Box Derby with both of his sons. He also enjoyed cooking, fishing, polka music and spending time with his family.
Mr. Singhoffer is survived by his wife, Joyce T. (Smith) Singhoffer; sons, Mark (Gina) Singhoffer and Michael (Sherry) Singhoffer; daughter, Ann Marie Johnson; step-daughters, Amy (Tracey) Hamilton and Jennifer Holiga; brother, Robert (Barbara) Singhoffer; grandchildren, Becky Ferguson, Brian Singhoffer, Jonathan Singhoffer, Austin Singhoffer, Casey Singhoffer, Logan Singhoffer, Keeton Ritter and Hannah Ritter; step-grandchildren, Luke Hamilton, Ellie Hamilton, Joey Holiga and Lily Holiga; and great grandchildren, Ashleigh Ferguson, Jacob Ferguson, Dylan Ferguson and Keira Singhoffer.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn Singhoffer in 1983; his parents; and brother, Joseph Singhoffer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, December 21, 2009 at 10:00 am at Holy Family Parish - St. John's Church, 1405 First Avenue, Middletown with Father John Civille as celebrant. Visitation will be Sunday, Dec. 20, 2009 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM at WILSON-SCHRAMM-SPAULDING FUNERAL HOME, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown. Entombment will be at Woodside Mausoleum with military honors conducted by the Middletown Combined Honor Guard.
