John B. Raine

October 18, 1921 — January 27, 2002

John graduated from Middletown High School in 1939. After serving in the US Army from 1942-1946, he returned to the College of Wooster and graduated in 1947. After a 44-year career at Armco Steel Corp., he retired in 1986 as a Senior Tax Accountant. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Middletown, where he was a member of the choir and served both as Deacon and Elder. He was a lifetime member of the YMCA and served on the Physical Committee for 24 years. John's masonic career began in October 1957. He was a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Dayton, and Most Wise Master Rose Croix, Dayton Chapter. He was awarded Honorary 33rd Master Mason Degree in 1984. He was a member of Middletown Commandery #71 Knight Templar, Middletown Council #136 R. & S. M. He was Past Master of George M. Verity Lodge #760, and a member of Jefferson Lodge #90, as well as many other associated Masonic organizations.

John was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Josephine Grimes Raine, his parents, and two brothers, Robert W. and David L. Raine. He is survived by his children Tim Raine, Sally (Duane) Raine Chojnacki, and Nancy Raine Drake; his grandchildren Kim Drake, Nicholas Raine, Megan Chojnacki, and Benjamin Chojnacki; and his great granddaughter Kelsey Drake Conkle.
