John E. Gifford, 87, of Middletown, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, December 15, 2010. He was born in Hamilton County on September 8, 1923 to parents John H. and Mary (Otto) Gifford.
John was a Navy Air Corps veteran and 50 year member of New Holland Lodge #0392 F & AM. He farmed at New Holland for 33 years, before going into land clearing.
Mr. Gifford is survived by his wife, Vivian Iola (Luechauer) Gifford; three daughters, Vivian (Gene) Stonerock of Williamsport, Johnny Sue (Bill) Rowe of Fayetteville and LuAnn Gifford of Monroe; five grandchildren, Teresa, Becky, Kurt, Robin & Brandy; nine great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; two brothers, Dale (Betty) Gifford and Orville Gifford; two sisters, Esther Shaw of Brookville, IN and Lorraine (Donald) Delong of Laurelville; and many loving nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Earl, Frank, Vernon & Arthur; and sister, Crystal Grissom.
Funeral Service will be held Saturday, December 18, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown with Reverend Kathy Engelhardt officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 10:00 – 11:00 AM. Interment will be at Butler County Memorial Park.
