John D. Flower

John D. Flower, 80, of Monroe, passed away Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Ohio's Hospice of Butler and Warren Counties. He was born on April 22, 1944 in Middletown, to parents, Newton W. and Vivian F. (Grubb) Flower, both of whom preceded him in death.

John was a school teacher and tutor at Oneida Schools in Middletown, retiring in 1995 after 35 years of service. He was an active member of Monroe United Methodist Church, where he was the church treasurer and ran the sound system. John enjoyed staying busy, whether helping people out by doing their tax returns, helping at Middletown Summer Day Camps, assisting at auctions, umpiring softball and baseball games, refereeing volleyball games, scorekeeping for the Middletown Wildcats softball team or being the starter at Pleasant Hill Golf Course. He was an avid golfer and was fortunate enough to have had 4 hole-in-ones. 

John is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Melanie (Snyder) Flower; son, Kevin Flower; daughter, Tonya Flower; two grandchildren, Morgan Alexis and Dakota James Deem; brother, Steve (Becky) Flower; sister-in-law, Bobbie Allen; as well as many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral Service will be Thursday, December 12, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd (at Bonita Dr.), Middletown with Pastor Jeff Motter officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at North Monroe Cemetery.
