John Henry Lickert, 93, of Middletown, died Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at Garden Manor Retirement Village. He was born in Middletown on August 23, 1919 to parents William and Irene (Stork) Lickert.
John worked as a tour foreman at Jefferson Smurfit for 40 years, retiring in 1985. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II and was a former member of the American Legion Post #218 and the VFW #3809. John was a member of Holy Family Parish and was a 4th degree Knights of Columbus.
Mr. Lickert is survived by his son, John W. (Marcella) Lickert; daughters, Judith (Roger) Mattingly & Julie Barrett; sister, Pat Goode; 13 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel (Back) Lickert; parents; brother, William R. Lickert; & great great granddaughter, Samantha Behler.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Garden Manor for their wonderful care of John during the past year.
Graveside service will be held Monday, June 17, 2013 at 11:00 am at Middletown Pioneer Cemetery, First Ave., Middletown with Father John Civille officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Middletown Combined Honor Guard.
