John "Jay" Surface

John P. “Jay” Surface, 36, of Middletown, passed away Monday, June 19, 2017, at his home. He was born in Hamilton on October 10, 1980 to parents Robert and Mary (Schmidt) Surface.

He graduated from Bishop Fenwick High School in 1999 and went on to receive his BS in Business from Miami University in 2005. Jay worked in the Pro-Shop at Wildwood Golf Club and at Stefano's Italian Café for the past 20 years, bringing a smile to everyone he met.

Jay will be forever loved and missed by his mother, Mary Surface; sister, Erin (Matt) Garitson; brother, Rob Surface; niece & nephew, Miranda Marshall & Dillon Spivey; and countless friends & family members. He reunited in Heaven with his father, Robert Surface; maternal grandparents, John & Lena Schmidt; and paternal grandparents, Paul & Virginia Surface.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 330 Lebanon Street, Monroe with Father Paul Gebhardt as celebrant. Visitation will be prior to the service from 9:00 - 11:00 am at the church. Private burial will take place at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
