John P. Bohley, 93, of Monroe, died Saturday, June 13, 2009, at Mt. Pleasant Retirement Village. He was born in Brooklyn, New York on June 30, 1915 to parents Peter and Charlotte (Thomas) Bohley.
Mr. Bohley worked for the US Postal service for 16 years, was a volunteer at Otterbein Retirement Village, a member of Lifeway Christian Church and served his country in the United States Marine Corps during World War II, where he was a sergeant over a platoon of Navajo codetalkers and while on the island of Siapan he captured a flag.
Mr. Bohley is survived by his Son, John P. (Kimberly) Bohley Jr.; Daughter, Theresa Wise; a granddaughter, Gloria Jean (Brett) Dorow; great-grandson, Jacob Dorow.
John was preceded in death by his wife Mary "Pat" Bohley, his parents, brothers; Frederick Bohley, Jacob Bohley and Martin Bohley; and sisters; Catherine Gibbons, Charlotte Kay and Elsie Diller.
Visitation Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. Funeral services private for the family.
