John R. Myers, 84, of Middletown, died Tuesday, November 29, 2005, at Dayton V.A. Hospital. He was born in Middletown, on November 23, 1921 to parents John and Corene (Knorr) Myers.
Mr. Myers worked as a carpenter in construction. He was a World War II Army veteran, having fought in European Theater & Pacific Theatre in Burma. He served in the US Merrill Mauraders and received a purple heart and bronze star. He was a member of American Legion Post 218, Veterans of Foreign Wars 3809, and Disabled American Veterans 131.
John is survived by his sister, Charlotte (Bob) Byrnes of Franklin; brother, Charles Myers of Middletown; nieces, Cydney Jones, Sandy Willis, Trish Roberts, Barb Nicholas, Beth Hayes, and Brenda Chiaramonte; nephews, David Jones, Danny Myers, Billy Myers, Tracy Myers, and Chuck Myers; grandchildren, Travis & Jonna Myers; and a son, John (Sue) Myers of Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Service will be held Friday, December 2, 2005 at 10:00 AM at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. (at Bonita Dr.) with Father John Civille officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, from 5-7 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery with graveside military honors presented by American Legion Post 218 Honor Guard.
