John R. Sheller, 90, formerly of Middletown, currently residing in Duluth, GA, died Tuesday, September 11, 2018. He was born in Middletown on July 16, 1928 to parents John George and Melva Elizabeth (Fabing) Sheller.
John graduated from Hamilton Catholic High School in 1946 and served his country as a US Marine, attaining the rank of Sergeant. After his military service John attended the University of Dayton, graduating in 1955 with a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering. John continued his education at Cleveland's Case Institute of Technology, earning his Master of Science in Engineering Administration. John's career spanned 35 years with Goodyear Aerospace until his retirement. After retiring, John moved his family back to Middletown and became active in his church, Holy Family Parish, serving as a Eucharistic Minister for 25 years. He also volunteered for many years providing tax assistance through his AARP membership. He enjoyed woodworking, making several attractive pieces of furniture which became treasured items for his family.
Mr. Sheller is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mildred (Martin) Sheller; two daughters, Marilyn Iasiello and Anne DiMarco and their husbands, Mark Iasiello and John DiMarco. His family also included six grandchildren, John Iasiello, Rachel (Iasiello) Scott, John "Jack" DiMarco, Eliza DiMarco, Sophia DiMarco & Nicholas DiMarco. He was preceded in death by his parents and three infant children who went to the Lord shortly after birth.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at 10:00 am at Holy Family Parish - St. John's Church, 1405 First Avenue, Middletown with Father John Civille as celebrant. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Middletown Combined Honor Guard.
The family has requested that memorial donations be made to St. Vincent dePaul Society, 1125 Bank Street, Cincinnati, Ohio 45214 or through the website www.svdcincinnati.org/donate.
