Jong Pil Lee, born in Jang-Dan, Korea on March 12, 1922, left this earth on Sunday, April 24, 2005, to reside with the Lord.
While a young man in Korea, Jong Pil was captured by the Japanese during the invasion of 1940, and was sent to a Japanese slave labor camp. He eventually escaped and returned to Korea. Shortly afterwards, the Chinese entered the Korean War and Jong Pil and his family became refugees for the remainder of the war. Jong Pil and his wife came to the United States in 1984. They both became American Citizens in 2004. Jong Pil and his wife OK Kyung celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on March 21, 2005.
Mr. Lee is survived by his wife of 61 years, OK Kyung (Kim) Lee; four daughters, OK Hui of Middletown, KC Downey of Florida, Sue Lee Jin of Cincinnati, and Kay Lee of California; two sons, Seung Soon Lee of Texas, and Jason Lee of Akron; 8 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, April 27, 2005 at 1:00 PM at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. (at Bonita Dr.) with Reverend Eun Cheol Yoon officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-8 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be at Butler County Memorial Park.
