Joseph Felber, of Trenton, died at age 92, at Garden Manor Extended Care Center on July 3, 2004. He moved to Garden Manor in 1994 from Inglewood, CA., which had been he and his wife’s home for 56 years. Joe moved to Garden Manor to be with his wife who preceded him there, to be closer to her family, after suffering a stroke in 1993.
Joseph retired from the United States Navy after 35 years. He served as a Master Chief Damage Control Man. His career included service during World War II, the Korean Conflict, and Vietnam. He served on the USS Colorado, USS Tantalus, USS Pawcatuck, USS Helena, USS Small, USS Prairie, USS Bryce, and USS Bennington. His favorite recreation was golf, and when was in well health, Joe was an avid golfer. He also enjoyed his furry friends, dogs, and cats.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Amelia Singhoffer Felber in 1998. Also preceding him in death were his parents, Julias and Gizzela (Vilagy) Felber, a sister Margaret Yanko and brothers: Frank, Julias Jr., Steve, James, and Lewis.
Joe is survived by a sister, Mary Smith of Wilkes Barre, PA, as well as sister-in-laws, Olga Felber of Garfield, NJ, and Irene Cimprich, of Trenton. He also leaves numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Garden Manor Extended Care Center, as well as Dr. Jeff Zollett, and Dr. Sandeep Gupta for their continued professional care.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday July 7, at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Name Catholic Church, 222 Hamilton Ave., Trenton, with Father George Klein as celebrant. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9:30-10:30 at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. at Bonita Dr., Middletown. Internment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
