Joseph J. Delaney, 93, of Monroe, passed away September 21, 2005. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on April 22, 1912 to Joseph P. and Minnie (Flynn) Delaney.
During World War II, Mr. Delaney served in the Pacific as commander of the 911th Signal Company Depot of the Fifth Air Corps. At the end of the war, he resigned his commission as Major, United States Army, returning to a career in engineering with Armco Steel Corporation. He retired in 1977, after 32 years.
Joseph is survived by his wife of 64 years, Genevieve S. Delaney; a son, Patrick J. (Debra) Delaney of Barrington, IL; a daughter, Peggy (Jim) Trimble of Middletown; a nephew, Harold (Ginny) Mann Jr. of Perrysburg, OH; and a loving, extended family including many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Florence (Lee) Hornback of Cincinnati and Virginia (Harold) Mann of Toledo, and two nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, September 24, 2005 at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Parish - St. John's Church with Father John Civille as celebrant. Visitation will be held at the church one hour before services. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
