Joseph M. Plumbo, Sr., 82, of Middletown, died Tuesday, May 29, 2007, at Dayton V.A. Hospital. He was born in Middletown, on March 8, 1925 to Sam and Rita (DePalma) Plumbo.
Mr. Plumbo was a veteran of the United States Navy and worked as a BOF Operator for Armco Steel Corp for 37 years, retiring in 1983. He was a member of Holy Family Parish, the American Legion Post 218 and Loyal Order of Moose 501 and was a life member of the VFW 3809, the DAV 131, and Eagles Aerie 528. He enjoyed attending all of the grandkids sporting events and was an avid bowler.
Joseph is survived by his wife of 40 years, Ramona (Lewis) Plumbo; two sons, Mike (Glenda) Plumbo Jr. and Mark (fiancee Elaine) Plumbo; step son, Timothy (Robbin) Holman; step daughter, Cathy (James) Willoughby; a brother, Tony Plumbo; seven grandchildren, Angie, Steven, Betsy, Tyler, Morgan, David, & Andy; nine great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Richard Klontz; niece, Diane LeForce; and nephews, Tom Plumbo, Tony Klontz, and Marty Plumbo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Grace Plumbo, Sister Rose Cecilia Plumbo, Sister Mary Grace, and Theresa Klontz; and brothers, Jim Plumbo and Frank Plumbo.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Joe’s nurses and caregivers at Nursing Home 3 at the Dayton VA Medical Center, and to the Hospice Unit.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, June 4, 2007 at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Parish - St. John's Church, with Father John Civille as celebrant. Visitation will be Sunday, June 3, 2007 from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. (at Bonita Dr.), Middletown. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery with military honors conducted by American Legion Post 218 Honor Guard.
