Juanita Mencsik, 73, of Middletown, Ohio, died on Sunday, May 11, 2003, at Dayton Heart Hospital. She was born in Jackson, Breathitt County, Kentucky on June 30, 1929 to parents Ike and Sallie Belle (Gross) Gilbert.
Juanita retired after 30 years of employment with Miami Packaging (formerly St. Regis Paper) and managing a self-employed cleaning service.
She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother and a wonderful caretaker for her family and friends. She enjoyed cooking for her family and traveling. She leaves a legacy of admiration for those she knew and the lives she touched.
Juanita is survived by her six children James (Suellen) Hollon of Middletown, Ron (Donna) Hollon of Franklin, Rose Crowe (Ron Overholtz) of Middletown, Diana (Joe) Lucas of Miamisburg, Don (Linda Goettsman) Hollon of Miamisburg, and Jeff (Carla) Hollon of Middletown; two brothers, Charlie (Lorene) Gilbert and Ikie (Jenny) Gilbert, both of Franklin; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Glenn S. Mencsik in 1996; her parents; an infant sister, Eurla Mae Gilbert; and a brother, Arnville “Bo” Gilbert.
Memorial Service will be held Thursday, May 15, 2003 at 11:00 am at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. at Bonita Dr., with Rev. Marion Barnes officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service on Thursday from 10 – 11 am. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Woodhill Cemetery in Franklin.
