Jule (Weinkam) Kalmus, 98, of Middletown, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at Hospice of Butler & Warren Counties. She was born in Cincinnati on June 19, 1918 to parents Bernard and Marie Weinkam.
Jule was a 1936 graduate of Regina High School and attended University of Cincinnati for 2 years. She worked at Kieley Electric in 1938 and at Chevrolet Zone Office, General Motors Corp from 1939 to 1949. On June 11, 1949 Jule married Peter F. Kalmus (formerly of Austria) in Cincinnati, Ohio and moved to Middletown in January 1950. They were members of Holy Family Parish. Jule was very active in Cub Scouting and was a member of the Middletown Hospital Auxiliary from 1962 to 1988. She was also active in the Middletown Cotillion, Verity Pool Association, Middletown High School Band Boosters, and participated frequently in the High Fever Follies.
Jule was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Pete Kalmus; her parents; three brothers & one sister. She is survived by her son, P. Larry Kalmus (companion Lori Million) and granddaughters, Jessica (Josh) Edwards of Trenton & Lauren (Gary) Caudill of Carlisle. She is also survived by two wonderful great grandchildren, Tanner Riley & Ashlynn Caudill, as well as many nieces & nephews and numerous special friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Holy Family Parish - Holy Trinity Church, 201 Clark Street, Middletown with Father John Civille as celebrant. Visitation will be prior to the service from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at the church. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
