Julia Rae Cassidy, 66, of Carlisle, died November 10, 2005, at Middletown Regional Hospital after a lengthy illness. Born in Middletown on December 19, 1938, she was the eldest of six children of Leonard “Boots” and Mary Smith. She graduated from Middletown High School where she met then married her best friend, Jim Cassidy. Their 49 year marriage produced 4 children, 9 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and enough love and laughs for generations to come.
She was employed by Armco of Middletown, Mid-First Bank of Trenton, manager of Hickory Hams in Middletown, and retired from Target of Middletown in 2003.
Memories of her kind smile, warm laugh, and loving nature will bring comfort to those who knew her. For those who were privileged to call her ”wife”, “daughter”, ”sister”, “mom”, or ”memaw”, her spirit will always shine as we continue the life that she left too soon.
She was preceded in death by her father, Leonard.
Her legacy continues with her husband, Jim of Carlisle; three daughters, Sue (Carl) Tarbox of Carlisle, Toni Cassidy of Kokomo, IN, and Julie (Tom) Duffy of Carlisle; a son, Scott (Belvie) Cassidy of Hawkinsville, GA; her mother, Mary Smith-Stamper of Fruitland Park, FL; two sisters, Barbara (Doug) Leppich of Middletown and Cathy (Tony) Shepherd of Trenton; three brothers, Bill (Evelyn) Smith of Brady, TX, David (Lee) Smith of Atlanta, GA, and John Smith of Middletown; 9 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren.
