Karen Leann Szabo, 54, unexpectedly passed away on July 9, 2017, while on vacation in Hawaii. She was born in Middletown on February 2, 1963 to parents Charles and Jodell (Tucker) Collins. She was preceded in death by her son, Grant Szabo; her mother, Jodell Collins; and mother-in-law, Irmgard Szabo. Karen is survived by her husband of 30 years, Sandy Szabo and four daughters, Crystal, Molly, Logan and Erin Szabo. She also leaves behind her father, Charles Collins and brothers, Mike Collins and Kenny Collins.
Karen graduated from Madison High School in 1981. She loved her work family at the Franklin Walmart, and spent many evenings playing bingo with her friends at Roosevelt Boulevard Bingo. Karen had an incredibly full life and raised many of the community's children in her at-home daycare. Karen's shining personality and sense of humor will be deeply missed by all those lucky enough to know her.
Please join us in celebrating Karen’s life on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at 7:00 pm at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. at Bonita Dr., Middletown. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 5:00 - 7:00 pm.
