Kelly Goodwin Norvell

Kelly Goodwin Norvell, age 47, passed away on December 22, 2020, in Middletown, Ohio, following a lengthy illness. She was born, September 5, 1973 in Sandusky, Ohio to parents Scott and Katherine Goodwin.

Kelly was raised in Milan, Ohio, attending Edison local schools. She enjoyed playing basketball and softball, participating in the band, and attending Calvary Episcopal Church. Kelly graduated from Edison High School in 1991 and continued her academic and athletic career at Wright State University (WSU). Kelly played 4-years on the WSU softball team. Kelly graduated from WSU in 1996 with a Bachelors in Education and from the University of Dayton in 1998 with a master’s degree in Child Youth Development & Early Education. Kelly’s proudest moments revolved around her 20+ year career in education at Middletown City Schools. As an intervention specialist, Kelly was a passionate and devoted educator at both Central and Wildwood Elementary schools. Kelly focused 100% of her energy on serving the student. Kelly’s vision was an inclusive and high quality education for her students. Along with her students, Kelly was a loving and caring aunt to her nephews and niece. She made sure Jack, Stella, Grady and Carter knew that Aunt Kelly loved them more than anything. Kelly loved her family, her friends, her school, the sunshine, and family vacations at the beach. Kelly will be remembered and missed for her grit, her determination, and her willingness to give to others.

Kelly is survived by her loving parents, Scott & Kathy Goodwin; her siblings, Sara (Adam) Brown & Josh (Katie) Goodwin; her nephews, Grady & Carter Goodwin, Jack Norman Brown and her niece, Stella Brown. Kelly is also survived by her amazing friends & coworkers who cared for her so deeply and became part of her family. Kelly is preceded in death by her grandparents, Michael & Eudocia Pappas, Lloyd & Elizabeth Goodwin, and Roberta Goodwin.

Kelly will be laid to rest in Milan, Ohio following a private burial. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in honor of Kelly Goodwin to the Special Olympics Foundation, Middletown City Schools, or the Kidney Foundation.
