Kenneth M. Cook

Kenneth M. Cook, 73, of Monroe, passed away Friday, February 3, 2006, at his residence, of lung cancer. He was born in Blue Diamond, Kentucky on January 21, 1933 to parents Condy and Leura (Robinson) Cook, who preceded him in death.

Mr. Cook served his country in the United States Air Force from 1949-1953, during the Korean War. He worked at Armco Steel Corporation for the following 30 years, retiring in 1984 as foreman in the transportation department. After retirement he worked in car sales in Middletown until failing health forced him to retire in 2005, a few months prior to his death.

Mr. Cook was active in the tape, radio, and bus ministries of Grand Avenue Church of God, and helped numerous other churches in the Ohio Valley set up cassette-tape ministries. He was also a member of American Legion Post 218 and a lifetime member of the DAV.

Mr. Cook is survived by his faithful wife of 54 years, Alice Willena (Smallwood) Cook; daughter, Connie (Daniel) Duell of West Chester; son, Kelly R. Cook of Middletown; brother, Condy (Nancy) Cook Jr. of Lexington, KY; and sisters, Lucille Orcutt of Danville, KY and Ermadene (Elgie) Padgett of Eubank, KY. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Brian (Missy) Chamberlain of Middletown, Ryan (Allison) Cook of Seattle, WA, and Meghan Cook of Hamilton; and by 3 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Sunday, February 5, 2006 from 2-4 PM at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown, OH. Funeral service will be Monday, February 6, 2006 at 2:00 pm at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home in Science Hill, KY with additional visitation prior to service from 12 – 2 pm. Interment will be at Double Springs Cemetery, Waynesburg, KY.
