Larry Gibson

Lawrence H. “Larry” Gibson, 66, of Middletown, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 24, 2009, at his residence. He was born in Hazard, Kentucky on April 7, 1943 to parents Lawrence and Mildred (Cuddy) Gibson.

Larry retired from Frigidaire in 1979 and the office furniture business in 2005. Larry enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and his many friends. He also enjoyed golfing, traveling to Florida and taking short trips. Despite his many health problems, Larry had a passion for life, a good sense of humor and a strong determination to live. God healed him of inoperable lung cancer in 1995, a few months after he was told that he only had a few weeks to live. Larry was a kind and generous man who did a lot for others. He loved and adored all of his children and grandchildren. His grandchildren called him "their cute little papaw". They were very special to him! He was well loved by all who knew him and he will be dearly missed.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lester Gibson.

He is survived by two sons, Larry Gibson and Stephen Hargraves; three daughters, Rebecca (Ralph) Cecil, Diana (Todd) Campbell and Julie (Stan) Idzi; twelve grandchildren, Sara Mikesell, Jessica Combs, Taylor McGuire, Kacey Bainter, Victoria Vines, Gracie Pence, Evan Hargraves, Jordan Campbell, Mallory Campbell, Miranda Weaks, Spencer Idzi and Klara Idzi; two great grandchildren, Brianna Pate and Emma Mikesell; a brother, Darrell Gibson; and a sister, Lou (Ercell) Taylor.

Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at 2:00 pm at WILSON-SCHRAMM-SPAULDING FUNERAL HOME, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown with Reverend Charles Denny officiating. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Grace Memorial Garden.
