Larry R. Guthrie, 58, of Monroe, died on May 17, 2006, at his residence, after a year long battle with Lou Gehrig’s Disease. He was born in Barboursville, West Virginia on April 11, 1948 to parents Charles and Ethel (Johnson) Guthrie.
Larry retired from AK Steel after 35 years of service. He was an avid fisherman and as such, enjoyed fishing in tournaments and was a longtime member of Franklin Bass Anglers. He enjoyed horses, and all sports and was a serious sports fan and was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose #501.
Mr. Guthrie is survived by his wife of 37 years, Barbara (Mack) Guthrie; two daughters, Stacy Morton of Mason and Donna Siler of Beavercreek; one son, Greg Guthrie of Oregon; three grandchildren, James Morton, Jacob Morton, and Shelby Siler; his parents, Charles & Ethel Guthrie of Middletown; and special uncle & aunt, Victor and Justine Thomas of Middletown.
Funeral Service will be held Saturday, May 20, 2006 at 11:00 AM at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. (at Bonita Dr.), Middletown with Reverend Laureen Roe officiating. Visitation will be Friday, from 5-8 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
