Spicer, Lawrence "Sam"
Lawrence "Sam" Spicer, 89, of Middletown, died Thursday, November 20, 2014, at home. He was born in Breathitt County, Kentucky on August 31, 1925 to parents James and Lizzie (Belamy) Spicer.
Sam served his country in the United States Army during WW II where he was a Purple Heart recipient. He was a member of the American Legion #218 and the DAV. He was an avid golfer and bowler and coached Middletown Knot-Hole Baseball.
Mr. Spicer is survived by his wife, Georgia (Caudill) Spicer; son, Marcus Spicer; daughter, Sheila Spicer; brothers, Earl, Roy & Charlie; sisters, Marie, Lois Jean & Shirley and grandchildren, Brian, Nicole, Jessica and Jacob; great grandchildren, Christopher & Crizella.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Linda Spicer; stepson, Timothy Colwell; sister, Pearlie; brothers, Hargis, Lloyd, Bob, Hobert and Bill.
Funeral Service will be held Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 12:00 Noon at WILSON-SCHRAMM-SPAULDING FUNERAL HOME, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 - 12:00 pm. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Middletown Combined Honor Guard.
