Lela H. (Croake) Anderson, 92, of Middletown, died Friday, March 31, 2017, at The Woodlands of Middletown. She was born in Cincinnati on February 8, 1925 to parents William Thomas and Hilda (Dell) Croake.
Lela was a 1943 graduate of Middletown High School and attended the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. She was a talented piano player as well as an accomplished artist in several media. She was involved in many behind-the-scene artistic projects for local organizations. She was an avid reader as her massive book collection would indicate. She also loved every kind of music and enjoyed crocheting. Lela was an animal lover and took in many, many stray/dumped dogs & cats throughout the years. She will be missed for all of her talents as well as her wonderful sense of humor that she retained up to the very end of her life. Lela had worked as a case worker for Butler County. Following her retirement, she worked part-time for Elder-Beerman into her 80's.
Ms. Anderson is survived by her nieces & nephews, Michael R. (Beverly) Croake, Candace (Jeffrey) Heffner, William Croake, Mallory (David) Hoffman, Karen (John) Heisler & Lori (Tony) Meluch. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers & sisters-in-law, William D. (Marjorie) Croake, Thomas M. (Georgia) Croake & Robert B. (Patricia) Croake; and nephew, Stephen B. Croake.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
