Lillian J. Shumate

Lillian J. Shumate, 68, of Madison Township, died Monday, July 17, 2006, at her residence. She was born in Middletown, on September 15, 1937 to John S. and Alice Irene (Davis) Jacobs.

Lillian was a graduate of Middletown High School. She served on the City of Middletown Planning Commission, was a clerk for the City Commission and was a member of Holy Family Parish. She was a homemaker, Girl Scout Leader, and enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.

Lillian is survived by her husband, Richard A. Shumate of Madison Township; two daughters, Linda (Michael) Wallace of Trenton and Carolyn (Douglas) Semenick of Louisville, KY; two sisters, Peggy Boggs of Trenton and Betty (Paul) Meeker of Madison Township; three brothers, John A. Jacobs of Germantown, Kenneth (Debbie) Jacobs of Middletown, and Mark Thomas (Beverly) Jacobs of Madison Township; brothers-in-law, William J. (Virginia) Shumate of Monroe and Arthur P. Shumate of Middletown; sisters-in-law, Winnifred (James) McPherson of San Diego, CA, Dorothy (Donald) Cole of Hamilton, and Mary (Jack) Villalpando of Alpine, CA; five grandchildren, Adam, Lauren, & Jacob Smith, Erin Meehan, and David Cole; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers-in-law, Edward, Jack, & Jim Shumate; and sister-in-law, Jean Shumate.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, July 21, 2006 at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Parish - St. John's Church, 1405 First Ave., Middletown, with Monsignor Paul Metzger as celebrant. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5-8 PM at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. (at Bonita Dr.), Middletown. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be sent to the charity of donor´s choice.
