Lois Jean Hafer, passed away Monday, September 19, 2016, at Hospice of Butler & Warren Counties. She was born in Middletown on February 8, 1942 to parents Ralph and Margaret (Garnow) Hafer.
Lois was a 1964 graduate of The Ohio State University where she played varsity basketball. She received her master's degree from Xavier University. Lois coached and taught physical education at Trenton, Amanda Middle and Vail Middle Schools, until retiring in 1994. She refereed basketball and played AAU basketball on a state championship team. Lois enjoyed many years of golf in leagues at Weatherwax and Pleasant Hill. She also enjoyed working with Habitat for Humanity and loved to travel with family and friends. She was a member of First Christian Church where she served as a deacon.
Lois is survived by her sister, Ginny (Walt) Powers; brothers, Cliff (Jean) Hafer & Don (Pam) Hafer; many nieces & nephews; and lifelong friend, Sharon Amburgey
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-mother, Mabel Wagner Hafer.
Funeral Service will be held Friday, September 23, 2016 at 1:00 pm at First Christian Church, 4520 Rosedale Rd., Middletown with Reverend Justin Amburgey officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at the church. Entombment will be at Woodside Mausoleum.
