Lyman C. Brenneman, 87, of Monroe, died Thursday, July 31, 2008, at Atrium Medical Center. He was born in Ridgway, Pennsylvania on October 29, 1920 to parents Lyman C. and Alice (Kinch) Brenneman.
On September 15, 1945, Lyman married Margaret G. Hooker and following his discharge from the army in 1946, they returned to Ridgway, Pennsylvania. He earned his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and started work at the Elliott Company. He then went on to the Trumbull Electric Manufacturing Company in Connecticut, which later became the General Electric Company, where he worked until June 1957. In July 1957, Mr. Brenneman came to Miami University in Oxford, as the assistant to the director of buildings. He soon became the university engineer and director of plant operation and maintenance, the position from which he retired in April 1983. He and Mrs. Brenneman moved to Mount Pleasant Retirement Village in August 1993. Mr. Brenneman was a long-time member of the American Theater Organ Society.
Mr. Brenneman is survived by his wife, Margaret Brenneman; son, Dr. Wayne (Nancy) Brenneman, 464 Channel Rd., North Muskegon, MI 49445; daughter, Carol Kemp, of Miamisburg, OH; and 2 grandchildren.
Interment took place in Lima, New York.
Memorial service will be at the Oxford Presbyterian Church (101 N. Main St., Oxford, Ohio) on Sunday, October 19, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Patrick Warren presiding. Reception will follow at the Heritage Room in the Shriver Center (Student Union), Miami University. Memorial donations may be made to: Monroe Presbyterian Church; First United Presbyterian Church of College Corner; Kidney Foundation of Greater Cincinnati.
