Marcella C. Hume

Marcella C. Hume left her earthly life on Dec. 30, 2013, at Hospice of Butler & Warren Counties. Daughter of Anthony and Anna Lewing, she was born in Middletown on May 18, 1921. Her 92 years were filled with love for and from her family and friends. Marcella grew up on Woodlawn Avenue and attended St. John's School, receiving her high school diploma there in 1938. She worked in the offices of Inland Container Company until she married in 1950. She also worked for the Middletown Public Schools at Creekview and Rosedale. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul Hume; her sister Agnes Lewing, her parents and many friends and family members. She is survived by her four children, Rita McKinney of Middletown, Patty (Ron Miller) of Loveland, Tim of Albuquerque, N. M., and Rose (Jim Dunn) of Santa Fe, N.M, her four grandchildren, Adam McKinney, Tony Hume and Alec and Brad Mazo and several great grandchildren. Marcella was an avid card player, enjoying many evenings with her card club. She was an officer in the women's auxiliary at St. John's Church. The family would like to extend its gratitude to the staff of Hospice of Butler & Warren Counties and to the kind and thoughtful caregivers provided by Acare/Blackstone.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, January 3, 2014 at 10:00 am at Holy Family Parish-St. John's Church, 1405 First Ave, Middletown, with Father John Civille as celebrant. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
