Marcia H. Barton

August 28, 1924 — November 25, 2017

Marcia H. Barton, 93, of Monroe, died Saturday, November 25, 2017, at Ohio Living Mt. Pleasant. She was born in Hamilton on August 28, 1924 to parents Ernest and Helen (Smyers) Heiser.

Marcia worked as an occupational therapist at Mt. Pleasant Retirement Community and returned there to be among friends during her last years.  She was a devoted wife and mother for whom family was her most cherished possession.  Marcia loved holidays and family get-togethers, enjoying Easter egg hunts and Santa visits as much as her granddaughters loved them.  She was bouncy, upbeat and fun, quick to laugh and slow to criticize.  She loved life and made richer the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing her. Marcia was an accomplished artist, winning numerous awards.  Her favorite medium was oil paint and her favorite subjects were children, nature and beach scenes, although her interests were broad.  Her art continued to develop and she continued to study painting even when advancing age took a toll.  The Middletown Art Center had a special place in her heart.  Her paintings were exhibited in a number of venues and they hang in the homes of many local residents. She was a member of PEO and participated in many activities at the First Presbyterian Church. Marcia enjoyed many summers at their lake house in Northern Ontario with her husband, friends, and family.

Mrs. Barton is survived by her daughter Lynne B. (William) Dowling; sons Charles H. (Kristi) Barton and David W. (Maria) Barton; six grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles W. Barton in 2011; parents; and brother, David Heiser.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made to Middletown Arts Center, 130 N. Verity Parkway, Middletown, Ohio 45042-or-Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, Ohio 45420-1885.
