Margaret F. Hopper, 85, of Germantown, died Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at Friendly Nursing Home. She was born in Middletown, on July 12, 1922 to Harry and Bernadine (Homer) Whiteman.
Mrs. Hopper worked as an Engineering Secretary for Aeronca and then the Water Refining Company, retiring in 1985 after 35 years. Later she worked at the Middletown YMCA and the Middletown Regional Hospital gift shop. She was a member of Holy Family Parish, the American Business Woman's Association and was vice president and president of Gracious Grandmothers Charter #168. Margaret loved to dance, earning the title of Champion Jitterbugger in 1939. She also loved opera and flowers.
Mrs. Hopper is survived by, three daughters, Gaile Ann (Dan) Susong, Janice (Tony) Larocco, and Joan (Mike) Urschel; 7 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Hopper in 2003; her parents; brothers, Charles, John, and Pete Whiteman; and sister, Elizabeth Howard.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, March 27, 2008 at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Parish - St. John's Church with Father John Civille as celebrant. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 26, 2008 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at WILSON-SCHRAMM-SPAULDING FUNERAL HOME, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. (at Bonita Dr.), Middletown. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
