Margaret Joy

Margaret Joy, 81, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2006 at her residence. Margaret is finally at peace after several years courageously fighting heart disease and cancer. She was a resident of Middletown for 68 years. She was born February 13, 1925 in Middletown to parents Jewell (nee Faulkner) and Chester Rudd. Jewell later married Harold Dearth, who became Margaret’s beloved, adoptive father. All three parents preceded her in death.

Margaret is survived by her devoted husband of 61 years, Ray Joy Jr.. They were married on April 4, 1944 in Baltimore, Maryland where Ray was serving in the US Coast Guard. Also surviving are brother-in-law, Charles (Ruth) Joy; cousins; and special friends, Zona Courey, Linda Curry, Carolyn Kinder, and Margaret Praete.

Mrs. Joy was employed by Welfare Finance, Wright-Patterson AFB Intelligence Department, The Pentagon, Armco International Corporation, Hoover Ball, and Aeronca, Inc. She spent her later years as a homemaker and volunteered for many years at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she was a member for 54 years. She and Ray were officers of LaSoiree and the Cotillion Dinner Dance Clubs.

Funeral Service will be held Saturday, February 25, 2006 at 11:00 AM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 212 S. Broad St., Middletown, with Pastor Gene Leiter officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10 – 11, at the church. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
