Marian Joyce Sheley

Marian Joyce (Dome) Sheley, 91, of Middletown, died peacefully Thursday, August 3, 2017, surrounded by her family. She was born in Middletown, Ohio on June 14, 1926 to parents George and Alberta (Riley) Dome.

On July 28, 1943, Marian married Edward Sheley. They enjoyed 66 amazing years together living both in Middletown and Bradenton, Florida. Marian was employed with Armco and McGraw offices. While in Florida she and her husband owned and managed Sun Auto Sales. Marian was active in several garden clubs and was vice president and an accredited judge of the National Corsage Club. Marian and her husband, along with several others from the Middletown area, were instrumental in organizing the "Butler County Council for Retardation" in the 1950's, and did the same while living in the Bradenton/Sarasota area in Florida. After the loss of their daughter, Sandie, in 1978, Marian and her husband were inspired to form a church ministry for handicapped and mentally disabled at the Towne Boulevard Church of God, which was called the Sonshine class.

Marian is survived by her daughter, Susan Sheley Gabbard; sister, Lynn (Ted) Williams; four granddaughters, Lori (David) Moore, Lisa (Eric) Duncan, Amy Johnson & Tara (Dustin) Lawson; nine great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two daughters, Diana & Sandra Sheley.

Funeral Service will be held Monday, August 7, 2017 at 1:30 pm at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. at Bonita Dr., Middletown with Skyler Duncan leading the service. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 12:30 - 1:30 PM. Interment will be at Springboro Cemetery.
