Marilyn R. Abell, 84, of Middletown, passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at her home, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born in Cincinnati on January 5, 1940 to parents, Norbert and Anna Mary (Mann) Frey.
Starting her family young did not deter Marilyn from living her best life - she was a great wife, mom, grandma and great-grams and was surrounded by family her entire life. Known to many as Grams she was a staple in her grandchildren's lives. She was also quite proud of the academic success of her brother David and loved his family as well.
Marilyn was smart, witty, caring, classy and let’s not forget -- a bit feisty! She enjoyed reading, gardening, history and geography, staying up late and her morning coffee. She was an avid Jeopardy fan and was capable of beating the best contestants. She found pleasure in giving great gifts, preparing delicious meals and hosting family parties. One of her greatest joys was traveling with her husband, Michael, to attend their children and grandchildren's activities.
Later in life Marilyn became quite political and enjoyed debating current issues. Marilyn had a very sharp mind to the end of her long life; she passed quickly surrounded by her loving family.
Marilyn is survived by her children, Betsy Rossi, Jeffrey Abell, Mary Lynne (Jeff) Bierman & Todd (Melissa) Abell; sisters-in-law, Fran Frey & Linda (John) Gibson; 7 grandchildren, Michael (Brittany) Rossi, Sara Rossi, Amie Rossi, Grace Bierman, Michael Abell, Grant Ashworth & Bradley Ashworth; 4 great grandchildren, Kayden Wright, Kyren Blair, Beckett Rossi & Brynn Rossi; as well as many other loving family & friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Michael J. Abell; her parents; brother, David Frey; and brother-in-law, Tom Abell.
