Marion E Mcevoy

Marion E McEvoy, 87, of Middletown, died Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at his residence. He was born in Wharton, Ohio the son of Leonard and Bertha (Gibson) McEvoy.

Marion graduated from Wharton High School in 1942 and earned a Bachelor and Masters Degree in Education at Bowling Green State University. He earned post graduate hours at Miami University. He served in the U.S. Navy for three years during World War II and spent six months at Notre Dame University in the Naval ROTC. Marion began his teaching career in Nevada, Ohio, where he served as principal and sixth grade teacher for four years. He came to Middletown in 1955 to teach at Jefferson Elementary for three years. He spent one year teaching seventh and eighth grades at Oneida. He was appointed principal of the new Wildwood School and served four years. He next filled the position of Coordinator of fourth through sixth grades for seven years. He last served the school district ten years as Director of Personnel until his retirement in 1980. Marion is a member of First Christian Church and the American Legion Post 218 of Middletown. He is a life member of the Ohio Teachers Association and the National Education Association.

Mr. McEvoy is survived by his wife, Mildred L. (Shepherd) McEvoy; son, Michael McEvoy; daughter, Margaret McEvoy; step daughters, Billie Taylor, Barbara Guthrie & Linda (Jerry) Guido; sister, Marjorie Edgington; grandson, Raymond Miller; eight step grandchildren & 14 step great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda McEvoy in 1989; parents; numerous brothers & sisters; & step son, John William Mack.

Funeral Service will be held Saturday, March 17, 2012 at 11:00 am at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown with Reverend Laureen Roe officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 10:00 - 11:00 am. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery with military honors conducted by Middletown Combined Honor Guard.
