Marjorie Lois Bierly, 71, passed away in Hamilton Ohio, on Friday January 10, 2003.
She was born on November 22, 1931 in Mt. Vernon, Ohio to the late Floyd and Stella Parker. She married Robert M. Bierly Sr. on December 6, 1948 in Greenup, Kentucky. They were married for 36 years. Her Husband preceded her in death, passing away on May 13, 1984. Mrs. Bierly was a 1949 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church where she served as a volunteer in the church office.
Mrs. Bierly retired after 20 years from Mt. Pleasant Retirement Village in Monroe, Ohio. She was employed as the Director of Activities and Transportation. Mt. Pleasant residents remember her as being kind, caring, creative, and humorous. She was also an active volunteer on behalf of the Mt. Pleasant Life Care Fund.
She was a resident of Middletown, Ohio for 39 years. Mrs. Bierly was an avid sports fan and supported Middletown High School athletics. As a loyal “Middie” booster she followed Middletown High School teams in person, on the radio and through newspaper articles.
Mrs. Bierly Affectionately called “Maga” leaves a loving family who were inspired by her courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by four children: Robert “Bud” (Laura) Bierly of Hamilton, OH, , Connie Jo Bierly of Cedarville, OH, Jeffrey Lee (Susan) Bierly of Portland, Connecticut, and Janice (David) Harshey of Knoxville, TN. She is also survived by a brother Jack Parker of Mt. Vernon, OH and six grandchildren; Robert Marvin “Rob” Bierly III, Jason Squires Bierly, Evan Ross Bierly, Sarah Isabel Bierly, Zachary Parker Harshey, and Matthew Hiatt Harshey.
The family extends it heartfelt thanks to the congregation of Christ United Methodist Church and the staff of Hospice of Middletown for their prayers and countless acts of love and kindness.
Visitation will be Monday, January 13, 2003 from 5 to 8 pm at the Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd at Bonita Dr. Funeral Services will be conducted at 10am on Tuesday, January 14 at Christ United Methodist Church with Rev. Lisa Ellison officiating. Burial will be at Woodside Cemetery.
