Mary Aleen Cordray, 86, of Middletown, died Sunday, May 22, 2005, at Middletown Regional Hospital. She was born in Mt. Carmel, Indiana on August 15, 1918 to parents Herman E. and Florence (Sheppard) Gurr.
Mary Aleen was a realtor with Courtney Duff Realtors and was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She was active in many community, civic, and church affiliated organizations, including American Business Womens Association, for which she was scholarship chairperson, Accents, DeMolay Mother´s Club, the Ohio Junior Miss Organization, and the Charity Ball. She was past president of the Middletown Area Federation of Women´s Clubs, past board member and vice president of The Women´s Center, and member of the Order of Eastern Star for more than 50 years.
Mrs. Cordray is survived by one son, Robert C. “Corky” (Betty Lou) Cordray II of Butler, PA; and three grandsons, Robert C. (Beth) Cordray III, Alan Craig Cordray, and Bradley James Cordray.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert C. Cordray in 2002; and her parents.
Funeral Service will be held Thursday, May 26, 2005 at 10:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church, 2910 Central Ave., Middletown, with Reverend Laurence T. Doty officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 5-9 PM at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. (at Bonita Dr.), with Eastern Star services conducted by Prosser Chapter #367 at 6:30 pm. Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations may be made to The Women´s Center, 23 Donham Plaza, Middletown, OH 45042.
