Mary Lou Barker

Mary Lou Barker, 76, passed away at Middletown Regional Hospital on Saturday morning, Nov. 1, 2003. She was born in Coshocton, Ohio on July 17, 1927 to Helen (Taylor) and Bill Haines.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father, and stepfather, Robert Waldron.

Her survivors include her husband, John E. Barker of Middletown; and her three children, Susan Barker Clinger of Morehead, KY, her son, John Kent Barker of Orlando, FL, and her daughter Darlene "D" Seiffert of Avon, Mass. She also has two grandchildren, Cathy & Chris Clinger of Morehead, KY. She has several nephews and nieces, Paul & Larry Barker, David Mayes, and Barbara Paulus, all of Lima, OH.

She worked several years as a cashier for Montgomery Ward in Lima, Columbus, and Middletown, until she began to raise her family. She was active in Homemaker's Circle #8 after coming to Middletown and was also active in the Coterie Dance Club, serving as program chairman for one year. Prior to her recent illness, she was active in the "Body Recall" exercise group at First Christian Church on Rosedale Rd.

Her hobbies were reading, her flower garden, and "steamboating" with her husband. She made nine trips on the Mississippi Queen paddlewheel steamboat on the Ohio, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Cumberland Rivers and one trip up the Rhine River from Amsterdam to Zurich, Switzerland.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 4, 2003 at 2:00 pm at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. at Bonita Dr. There will be no visitation. Entombment will be at Woodside Mausoleum.
