Mary Lou Schlotter

Mary Lou Schlotter, 87, of Middletown, died Tuesday, January 7, 2003 at her residence. She was born in Mondak, North Dakota on January 10, 1915 to parents Theodore E. and Josephine (Murphy) Umhoefer.

Mary Lou was raised in Morehead, Minnesota and graduated from High School in Fargo, North Dakota. She then went on to graduated from Morehead State Teachers College. She worked as a secretary for McCord Advertising Company in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She married William Frederick Schlotter on May 13, 1940 in Oakley, Minnesota.

Mrs. Schlotter was a member of Holy Family Parish-Holy Trinity Church, where she participated in the Women's Group. Her other interests included Middletown Area Girl Scouts, designing and making her own quilts, meeting weekly at the Middletown Library with a sewing group, and gardening.

Mary Lou is survived by her husband Bill F. Schlotter of Middletown; three children, Fred W. (Theresa) Schlotter of White Lake, Michigan, Josephine (John) Schrader of North Canton, Ohio, and Mary (Chris) Hickey of Irvine, California; a sister, Kay Curtis of San Diego, California; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Umhoefer; eight grandchildren, Marianne Schrader of Chicago, Illinois, Elizabeth Courtiss of Weymouth, Maine, Deborah Hickey of San Francisco, California, Adrienne Schrader of Chicago, Illinois, Brian Hickey of San Diego, California, William F. Schlotter of Stanford, California, Steven Schlotter of Louisville, Kentucky, and Christopher Schrader of North Canton, Ohio; and one great grandchild, Katherine Mary Courtiss.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Theodore Umhoefer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, January 11, 2003 at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Parish-Holy Trinity Church with Father George Klein as celebrant. Visitation will be Friday evening from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. Entombment will be at Woodside Mausoleum.
