Mary E. Spears

Mary Elaine Spears, a cherished Aunt and Sister to many, as well as a devoted wife to her late husband George, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family members, on December 6, 2024, at the age of 72. Born on April 17 1952, in Warren, Ohio, Mary lived in Springboro, Ohio. Mary graduated from Middletown High School, and after graduation, she worked for Dayton Progress until her retirement.

Mary was a devoted and loving wife of the late Donall George Spears, with whom she shared a deep and enduring bond for 44 years. The two were married in St. John Church in Middletown in 1971. They were inseparable thereafter and brought joy and love to all who were so blessed to know them. 

In addition to her husband, Mary was predeceased by her brother, Spencer Mobley; sister, Beatta Ann Mobley; and parents, Loreley and Beatta Mobley. And she leaves behind her brothers, John, David, and Tony Mobley; as well as her sisters, Judith Laufer and Janet Lee. Moreover, she leaves behind dozens of loving nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews who learned how to swim in Mary’s pool and how to tan with Mary at the beach. She loved making a big meal and teaching all who cared to learn how to make homemade pierogies. Mary will be deeply missed, but her love and legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and all who were blessed to know her. 

A Mass celebrating Mary’s life will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Parish - St. John Church, 1405 First Ave., Middletown, Ohio with Father John Civille as celebrant.
