Matilda E. Day

Matilda E. Day, 75, of Monroe, died on November 20, 2003, at her residence. She was born in Knott County, Kentucky on October 11, 1928 to parents Drew and Perry Lee (Combs) Combs.

Matilda was a member of the First Baptist Church of Monroe, where she was known as “cookie lady” at Bible School.

Matilda is survived by one daughter, Joan (Tom) Callahan of Middletown, OH; one son, Ron (Joyce) Day of Monroe, OH; three sisters, Wendy Fugate of Carrie County, KY, Estelle Boleyn of Garrard County, KY, and Lowell Baker of Monroe, OH; and six grandchildren, Jason & Jessica Day, Clint & Danielle Taylor, and Sara & Tara Callahan.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Billie R. Day; her parents; daughter, Vickie Lynn Taylor; brothers, Chalmer, Wilburn, Burnice, & Woodrow Combs; sister, Fayma Combs; grandson, Justin Taylor; and granddaughter, Jennifer Lynn Callahan.

Funeral Service will be held Monday, November 24, 2003 at 10:00 AM at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. at Bonita Dr., with Pastor Chuck Wolfinbarger officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, from 2-5 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be at North Monroe Cemetery.
