Michael E. Burney, 66, of Franklin Township, died Thursday, July 26, 2007, at his residence. He was born in Middletown, on November 2, 1940 to Thomas B. and Mildred C. (Daley) Burney.
Mr. Burney graduated Bishop Fenwick High School in 1958. He graduated from Ohio State University and received his Masters degree from Xavier University and was a CPA. He worked as a transportation manager for Armco Steel Corp., retiring in 1993 after 28 years. After retirement he was employed at Bob’s Trucking and Ace Doran Hauling & Rigging. He served as a sergeant in the United States Army, serving most of his time in Aschaffenburg, Germany. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Miamisburg, VFW Post 3809, and the Knights of Columbus #1610.
Michael is survived by his wife, Lois J. (Gaston) Burney; son, John P. (Tiffanie) Burney of Carlisle; daughter, Jeanne M. (Geoff) Getter of Middletown; one brother, Daniel Burney; and four grandchildren, Nolan M. Burney, Carson P. Burney, Courtney E. Getter, and Samuel J. Getter.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, July 30, 2007 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 115 S. Main St., Franklin, with Father James Manning as celebrant. Visitation will be Sunday, July 29, 2007 from 2:00 - 5:00 pm at WILSON-SCHRAMM-SPAULDING FUNERAL HOME, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown. Interment will be at Woodhill Cemetery.
