Michael R. Matusak

Michael R. Matusak, 80, of Middletown, died Friday, February 1, 2013, at Hospice of Butler & Warren Counties. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 3, 1932 to parents Michael D. and Anna P. (Beletskie) Matusak.

Mike worked as a meteorologist / dispatcher for American Airlines for 22 years then as a chemical technician in research for Armco / AK Steel Corp for 20 years, retiring in 1994. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Mike was a certified golf instructor. He originated & organized the United Methodist District Annual Golf Outing and was on the committee for the Mt. Pleasant Retirement Village Annual Golf Outing. He was a member of Christ Church United Methodist where he served as head usher, was active in United Methodist Men, served on numerous UMC committees and enjoyed ringing bells for the Salvation Army.

Mr. Matusak is survived by his wife, Janet A. (Burtner) Matusak; brother, George (Mary) Matusak; sister, Suzanne (Daniel) Musielak; and numerous nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Dennis Matusak.

Funeral Service will be held Monday, February 4, 2013 at 11:00 am at Christ Church United Methodist, 700 S. Marshall Rd., Middletown with Reverend Lee Ortman and Reverend Norman Coleman III officiating and military honors conducted by the Middletown Combined Honor Guard. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 - 5 pm at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd, Middletown.
