Mildred M. Sheller, 89, formerly of Middletown, currently residing in Duluth, GA, died Wednesday, September 26, 2018. She was born in Trenton, Ohio on June 4, 1929 to parents Herbert and Rose (Beck) Martin.
Mildred was a graduate of Monroe High School and then a graduate of the University of Akron with a Bachelor of Arts degree in the College of Fine & Applied Arts. She was married to John Richard Sheller in 1955 at which time they moved to Akron, where her husband was employed. While in Akron she attended St. Matthew Catholic Church where she was a eucharistic minister and lector and was active in the Sanctuary Guild. She served as president of the National Council of Catholic Women and she received the NCCW Woman of the Year award. Returning to Middletown after her husband's retirement, she became a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and continued her eucharistic duties in the church and became active in Church Women United and St. Vincent dePaul. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing and quilting, creating many precious keepsakes for her family.
Mrs. Sheller is survived by her daughters, Marilyn (Mark) Iasiello & Anne (John) DiMarco; six grandchildren, John Iasiello, Rachel (Iasiello) Scott, John "Jack" DiMarco, Eliza DiMarco, Sophia DiMarco & Nicholas DiMarco; and one great grandchild, Kayleigh Scott.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, John R. Sheller; three infant children; parents; and brothers, Herbert & Fred Martin.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 12:30 pm at Holy Family Parish - St. John's Church, 1405 First Avenue, Middletown with Father John Civille as celebrant. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
