Millard L. Schrote, 93, of Monroe, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2003 at Mt. Pleasant Health Center. He was born to Dr. James L. Schrote and Orpha (Hulbert) Schrote on February 9, 1909 in Vanlue Hancock County, Ohio.
Mr. Schrote was educated in the Vanlue and Findlay, Ohio school systems and attended Findlay College. He retired from Armco, Inc. in 1973 after serving as manager and secretary-treasurer of the Armco Employees Credit Union. He also served on the board of directors of the American Savings and Loan Association, retiring as vice-president in 1980.
Mr. Schrote served in the Ohio National Guard during the 1930's, he was a charter member of the Middletown Sportsman's Club, he had been a member of the Middletown Lion's Club and until recently, a member of Middletown Elks. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Mr. Schrote was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Alberta Ellis Schrote; his parents; a sister Evelyn Schrote, and a grandson, Thomas O. Bothwell.
He is survived by his four children, John E. (Rachel) Schrote of Corolla, NC; Jill (Gene) Pfeifer of Alexandria, VA; Joseph W. (Debbie) Schrote of Monroe, and Jane Ragazino of Middletown; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
There will be a memorial service at 10:30 AM, Saturday, January 18, 2003 at First United Methodist Church, 120 S. Broad Street, Middletown with Rev. David Chivington officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
