Mitzi Welling, 76, of Madison Township, died Wednesday, January 29, 2003 at Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati. She was born in Massillon, Ohio on January 16, 1927 to parents, Jerry and Anna (Kossa) Stahl.
Mrs. Welling was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, where she participated in the prayer group. She went on a pilgrimage to Medjugori 10 years ago. She was a volunteer at Hope House. He husband, John, built Welling's Supermarket on the corner of Vannest and Manchester, which is now McGee's, and Mitzi worked in the store along with him. She and John have been married 56 years and lived on the farm over 50 years.
Mitzi is survived by her husband, John A. Welling of Madison Township; two sons, James A. Welling of Madison Township and Jerome A. (Libby) Welling, of Madison Township; two daughters, Jane (Mike) Fishbaugh of Trenton, and Jennifer (Charles) Burns of Madison Township; three sisters, Ann (Richard) White of Trenton, Ruth (Tom) Olson of Muskingum, Michigan, and Dorothy (Jim) Tincher of Middletown; twelve grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, John A. Welling, in 1987; her parents; and four sister, Pauline Russello, Irene Hutchinson, Helen Buehl, and Teresa Opesky.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, February 1, 2003 at 1:00 PM at Holy Name Catholic Church with Father George Klein as celebrant. Visitation will be prior to the service Saturday from 11:00 - 12:30 at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., at Bonita Dr., Middletown.
