N. Richard "Dick" Schramm

N. Richard “Dick” Schramm, 91, formerly of Middletown, Ohio, died Sunday, October 28, 2018, at The Riviera Senior Living in Holly Hill, Florida. He was born in Lancaster, Ohio on July 24, 1927 to parents Stephen J. and Elsie M. (Henkel) Schramm.

Dick moved to Middletown in 1934, where he attended Holy Trinity school and graduated from Middletown High School. He had started working for his father at age 14 which included driving an ambulance. He co-owned Wilson-Schramm Memorial Home and was a past member of Ohio Funeral Directors, National Funeral Directors and Ohio Embalmers. Dick served his country in the United States Coast Guard in 1945 and United States Army 1951-1953 and had been a member of American Legion Post #218 since 1945. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and was named to the first Parish Council of St. Mary's and was a member of Knights of Columbus #1610. Dick was active in sports, having been a member of Wildwood Golf Club for many years and Forest Hills Country Club before retiring to Florida. He was then a member of Daytona Beach Country Club. He was also formerly a member of Middletown Elks Lodge 257 and Eagles Aerie 528, then after moving to Florida was active in Daytona Beach B.P.O.E.

Mr. Schramm is survived by his son, Nicholas "Nick" (Pam) Schramm; daughters, Susan (Gary) Thomas & Mary (Jay) Snodgrass; grandchildren, Ashley (Ben) Sammons, Sarah (Jeremy) Stover, Nikki Schramm, Lucas Thomas & Jami Snodgrass; and great grandchildren, Karsyn, Kadence & Kyzer Stover, Delia, Lydia & Clive Sammons. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen L. Schramm; parents; brother, S. Joseph Schramm; and sister, Rita Haker.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 12:00 Noon at Holy Family Parish - St. John's Church, 1405 First Avenue, Middletown with Father John Civille as celebrant. Visitation will be prior to the service from 11:00 am - 12:00 noon at the church. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery with military honors conducted by Middletown Combined Honor Guard.
